Father’s Day

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 12:07 pm

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. For my part, I’ll be spending some special time today thinking of my father, who was and always will be my hero, and who taught me how to play C, F and G chords. I remember him bragging to his friends that I, a seven-year old squirt, could play an F7 chord on a guitar much like the one pictured above. I’d give anything to play a duet with him today.

  1. Jimbo…..Today is a bittersweet day for remembrance, my dad is gone as well.I celebrated his 103rd birthday on 5/29 privately at his grave side.
We used to take my boat out, fish on Presque Isle Bay, listen to the ball games & tip more then a few brewskis. Did not really realize then what wonderful times those were then.
I would give anything to here him say …”grab me another rolling rock” or mutter those immortal words “Them f—ing Indians” when they would score on his beloved Yankees.
I appreciate the memories …but to experience one more time any of those things I did with Dad & to say “Dad, I love you” would be….that`s the bitter part because I cannot say face to day what I took for granted so many years ago.

  3. Dudley’s thoughts hit home .I too took things for granted ,but one cannot turn back the hands of time.Sometimes one does not realize how many riches have been bestowed . Regrets I have a few .Happy Father’s Day to all especially those not here to receive the greeting .

  5. Hey, Jimbo! My family and I just returned from visiting North Carolina and Nashville (first-born checking out Vanderbilt). We visited the CMA Hall of Fame/Museum yesterday. It was incredible – including the exhibit on Chet Atkins. Your picture reminded me of him. What an artist!
