I am as discouraged as you are. Last week, I changed my voter registration from republican to unaffiliated. I am sick to death of carrying these dolt’s water and hoping for real change in the next election. I hope you don’t give up on your blog; I love coming here in the midst of the chaos and laughing at it all with you.

I have been thinking along the exact same limes as you, Jimbo, and am every bit as depressed about it. This election has proven that 51% of Americans have realized that they can vote themselves goodies. We’ve reached the tipping point. Can we recover? As far as I can see nobody knows. Few seem to care.

Another thing that depresses me is that many “conservatives” have been duped into talking exclusively about taxes as a solution to our economic woes (see comments above). We all know better. Remember? “We don’t have a taxing problem. We have a spending problem” It’s true. Whenever the economy collapses in the future it won’t be because we didn’t tax the rich enough or tweak the tax code correctly. None of that matters when Congress never gets a nickel in new revenue it doesn’t run out and spend two or three times. Any Congress crud that gets in front of the microphones to talk about his new tax plan has zero interest in fixing the real problem and is not our friend. Taxes are all they talk about these days. They know as well as we do that no amount of taxing smoke and mirrors is going to change a thing about this gloomy future we all see. So STOP TALKING ABOUT TAXES and stop listening to the villains and dupes that do!

November 6 will live in infamy as the day Americans voted with full knowledge that they were signing up for a minimum of four years of decay, downgrade, and decline. Four more years of Chicago crony capitalism with an affirmative action twist. However, life goes on and we need to make the best of it.

I enjoy visiting here and hope you decide to continue. We left Bergen County NJ for coastal NC a quarter century ago and still have kin in several NJ counties. Any NJ news and views and attitudes are welcome and make for good reading.

I’m with Erica. I don’t follow you for your political commentary, or not just your political commentary. I follow your blog because – I enjoy reading what you write. Most of which makes sense or because I agree with it even when it doesn’t make sense (it’s a joisey thing!). I’d hate to see you give it up and will even beg you not to. But I won’t go nasty on you if you decide you’ve had enough (as some did with Camille Paglia and Steven Den Beste). I’ll mourn, but live with it.

One of the many problems with that 250K rule is that it doesn’t take into consideration of where one lives. For instance, making 250K a year in Athens, TN (sorry Eric)would make one wealthy. It would go far… the biggest house, on the biggest land, with the nicest cars. But 250K in places like NYC… that makes you comfortable, but hardly ‘rich’. If you live in the city, rent is so dang much money.

Anyway, off that.

Jimbo, you are one of the funniest guys I know. There are other things to blog than this country going to hell in a hand basket. You can be our man about town in Jersey.

I apologize to Kevin for my erroneous commentary , I made an assumption without verification….inexcusable! Kevin is on the “Republican” team & I did an injustice & once again apologize.
Yes, I am more then a little upset with this election & aftermath but in no way does this justify or allow for my post.
