Unfortunately, I don't live in New Joisey. If I did, I would delight in sharing that chili dinner. Although I noticed sliced mild jalepeno peppers are not included as a garnish.

A "chili" dish is made with pureed flame-roasted chile peppers. As a minimum, folk add some bulk, usually kidney beans or small white beans. Real he-men do not put in the "carne" but char-broil a steak to go with it. But for a veggie version suitable for summer see the Pantry Page at www.ivyhill.tv I realize this is a catered event, but if you make the cornbread yourself, throw in a can of Mexican corn into the batter. Adds interest.

Beautiful website. I really like the theme.

oh.....and wondering what chili con carne is too since I've seen it at mexican restaurants I always assumed it was some sort of tortilla with chili on it or something. Did you calrify that already and it just went over my head?

Glad you clarified "The Post" from the "Post Bar", big difference. I was envisioning sitting around in a place that looked like a bingo hall.......LOL

Jim, I would love to come to your blog meet, it has been a long time, since I have been to Jersey. I can't leave my house in a mess, like it is now. More boxes each day, I may get settled by April, take care, Cat.

I believe that the chili purists would say that you don't even need kidney beans, as chili with kidney beans is chili con frijoles (pardon my non-Spanish).

Only because you mentioned it . . .

What is chili con carne? Chili with meat, yes? Now I ask you, if you removed the carne/meat, are you left with chili? If yes, then is chili kidney beans, chili powder, onions, and some spices?

Just one of those questions I have never fully had answered.
