Bloggers Everywhere!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 11:20 pm

Quite a night, this.

As I was pulling into my driveway tonight, sporting a major case of the ass from a long and aggravating day, I got a phone call from Eric. My rotten mood instantly turned around when he told me that he was calling from Chicago where he was attending a Blogmeet and was, at that moment, surrounded by Bloggers. They were obviously having a helluva time. Before I knew it, I was talking to Teresa from Technicalities, Harvey of Bad Example, and my buddy – The Laughing Wolf. I wish I could have transported myself to the Windy City to join in the serious writing discussions that I am sure would be taking place as soon as I hung up the phone.

About a half hour (and a plate of kielbasa and eggs and a couple bourbons) later, I tuned into Yellowstone Radio via the Internet to listen to a panel discussion about blogging. The panelists included Craig of mtpolitics (who liveblogged the event) and Karen of karbonkountymoos. Randy and T.L. Hines called in, and it was great to hear their voices. I had drunk just enough bourbon to dial in to the program. The call screener said, “Wow, we never had a call from New Jersey before,” and he put me right on the air. However, I suspect that after hearing about thirty seconds of Jerseyspeak, he decided that I would be the last call they would take from New Jersey. I can’t believe that they actually thought that I have an accent. Fuggetaboutit!

Talking to Bloggers in Chicago and calling in to a Montana radio program where some of my cronies were appearing – this blogging thing is pretty farookin’ amazing.

  4. It was nice to put a voice to the blog even if it was Joisyspeak! When you get to Billings you’ll have to have a beverage (or two or three or…) at our local Legion Hall and then we can check out where Craig will have the rest of the beverages set up.

BTW, you won’t have to worry about waking up with your toenails painted here in Montana. We’re just not that fancy out here. See you soon!

  7. “Blogs, Bloggers, and Blogging”

The Big Show went off without a hitch last night, from the listening end anyway, and it was a fast and fun hour of radio. As you may or may not have heard a gaggle of area Bloggers gathered at…

  9. I called right after you. The screener seemed a bit shocked that another out of stater was calling. I told him I was calling from Arizona, and he said that someone from NJ was on next. (That would be you).

From when I went to the screener to on-air, I didn’t realize it yet, and it threw me off. I’m going to hate listening to my question, when they release the rebroadcast. I had a couple of questions, but totally spaced them out when I got on and barely stumbled through one. All I could think about was “Dead Air”.

  10. Jimbo,

The rocky Mountain blogfest is on this Saturday night. Info at Vodkapundit and others.

My joy, it’s at the Denver Press Club. I’d say it was a second good reason to be a member, but the reason I joined was to drink with literate people, so it’s just more of the same good reason.

    Cheers,

    Mark

  12. It was wonderful talking to you Jim! The bad part was that the restaurant was so noisy I had a hard time hearing – LOL. Because we were all talking to various people – I didn’t realize that Eric had called you. They handed me the phone and said – “Here talk to Jim” and I gave them a blank look and said “Jim who?” *grin*

Anyhow, I really wish you could’ve been there… but one day we’ll end up at the same blog meet. Now I’ve heard the stories from Eric you’ll need to have the chance to refute them and tell me some about him… hehehehe

  13. Teresa -

Nice talking with you as well. As for Eric, he tells tall tales. I’ll set you straight. :-)

  14. Dinner With Bloggers… Always An Event

As I mentioned earlier I had a fun filled evening last night. I am noticing a trend though… so far no one has had the energy to blog about it except Grau and considering how far he had to drive…

  15. Blackfive’s Secret Identity

Before the meeting Tuesday night took place, we all had to swear to keep the secret of Blackfive’s true identity. We could not tell of the secret access at 1060 West Addison that leads to parking for Castle Blackfive, nor…

  16. My Friend, it was good to talk with you too, and I wish you could have been there! It was good to hear your voice again. Also, Eric probably does need to be set straight on the tales. Noting for the record that going home with the emergency bottle of single malt I brought is not stealing it. :)

  17. Well, drat! I slept through a blogmeet in my own back yard! I guess it’s time to pay more attention to what’s going on around me.
