Legislative Dumbshittery.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 7:08 pm

If Democrat State Assemblyman William Payne has his way, New Jersey will be the first northern state to apologize for slavery, even though New Jersey outlawed slavery 162 years ago.

Mind you, this dumbshittery is being discussed at a time when the state is going into 2008 facing a massive deficit (approximately $3 billion), the Governor is still insisting on spending an additional $530 million that state does not have, the state is facing unfunded liabilities of $56 Billion, and even the damned Turnpike may be sold to pay for the seemingly endless spending increases.

And yet, the voters in this state continue to elect these fools.

Oh, yes. William Payne is the brother of this congressional waste of space. I guess that Useless runs in the family.

  1. He figures if he “apologizes” the peeps of NJ will feel all nice and mushy about how good they are (apologizing for something they never did) and then they’ll feel mushy enough to ignore the rest.

He may have a point. *sigh*

  2. Dat’s the stoooooopidest thing, ever. Even fifth graders learning about the Civil War know that it was the Democrats who were the slaveowners. Does William Payne not see the irony, that debating whether State office buildings use single- or double-plied toilet paper is way more of a relevant issue?

I don’t mean this to be nasty, but does New Jersey even have a former glory that it could ever be restored to, aside from that symbolic bullshit of stealing the Statue of Liberty from New York?

And, does writing posts of this nature ever give you that “What’s the point? It’s useless” feeling?

  3. Factoid: New Jersey was one of only three states that voted against Lincoln in 1864.

We have a rich history of political dumbshittery.

  4. I call bullshit on this one. Typical waste of time, feel good politics to distract from the issues at hand. Is someone going to apologize to me for having to move out of the state I was born and raised in, so I can have something that resembles a civilized retirement without resorting to eating cat food or paying property taxes that are as high as my federal income taxes? I doubt it.

  5. This is complete garbage. Just to make black people feel better? I cant believe the times we live in.
If people are conquered and taken over and then enslaved, there should never be an apology. The history of the world becomes a joke.

  6. This is the camel’s nose under the tent for reparations. Rep. Payne, as much as he denies it, would love nothing more than an excuse to distribute someone else’s money to his constituents.

  7. New Jersey played a prominent part in, ummm, the war to win our freedom from the dentistry-challenged chaps from across the pond. Boy, that was something when Washington crossed Sheepshead Bay, or wait, no, I’m sorry, that had to do with New Jersey. Mustn’t forget the glory of Sinatra and the mafia. Hey, you got a pink elephant in Brooklyn? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

As far as that yahoo Payne, what the heck is going on there?! Idiocy. Something that can actually be accomplished, maybe, in order to be able to brag about it and say, “Look, I did something so wonderful, all my other failures aren’t that bad compared to this!”

It’s just amazing that as wonderful as this great nation is, there’s still crap like this that makes the place a huge pathetic joke.

  8. Did somebody mention Sheepshead Bay and pink elephants in Brooklyn? Only because I felt an itch in my elbow.
