Philly Ducks.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 1:37 pm

While we were in Philadelphia, we chartered a couple of Philly Ducks for a tour. They are refurbished WWII Army DUKW amphibious vehicles. You hop into one of these, and the “Captain” takes you for a riding tour of historic Philadelphia. Once the vehicle reaches Market Street in the shadow of the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Captain drives the DUKW into the Delaware River, for the water part of the tour, which includes sailing past the Battleship New Jersey and other great ships.

Everyone is presented with a “quacker,” as a souvenir. Thirty-five lawyers all making like ducks. Quite something to behold.

Touristy? Absolutely.

Great fun? Absolutely.

It’s just one of many fun things to do in the City or Brotherly Love.

  1. What exactly, pray tell, is a “quacker?”

  2. Since the link Jimbo provided is showing up as a blank page (for me, at least), here’s another one.
Considering the reputation that lawyers (in general) have, I’d say that seeing 35 of them doing anything together would be something to behold.

  3. They have duckboat tours here in Boston too. I’ve always wanted to do one – maybe this summer. They look like a real hoot… or should I say quack. LOL.

OMG – I can see all you lawyers quacking away you should’ve had a video camera – you’d all be youtube stars. *grin*

  4. 35 Lawyers in one boat !!!!!! Think of the oil slick that would have produced if it sank.

  5. John and I went on a Duck tour in DC last autumn. It was a lot of fun, and I still have my quacker!

    Glad you had fun!

  6. OK, I give up. What is a quacker? Remind me, also, to tell you of the time a guy pulled me all over downtown Toronto in a rickshaw. It was quite ridiculous. Not quite as ridiculous as 35 lawyers in a boat.
