I’ve exhorted my husband and my own happyself to stock up on good old fashioned incandescent lightbulbs. It’s pissing me off. It would be our luck that one of the new weird ones would break, the cat would eat it and become a new energy source himself.

A sharp lawyer like you can probably figure out a way to have the EPA mandate that CFLs can ONLY be disposed of in used vodka bottles. Big fat capitalist thinking is the only way to counter these idiots!

I tried to be a good boy and use the squiggly things in all my light fixtures in the Aerie when we finished construction. Two over the dining room table burned out in a month despite the promised long life span.

Those in the ceiling fan (where there is a dimmer switch) had to be removed. They flickered so badly that they produced migranes in some guests and nausea in others.

As I read more about the amount of energy needed to make thses CFL bulbs and the amount of mercury in each, I have come to the conclusion that the EPA should step in to halt their manufacture and demand that they NOT be substituted for incandescents at all.

That congress should think these things are the solution to our energy and greenhouse “problem” while drilling off shore is damaging to the environment does not surprise me one iota. Most of them are–and will continue to be–totally clueless about anything except posturing and posing.
