Our Future.

From the mailbag:

Notice to All Employees

As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama is officially elected into office, our company will install a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring themes of change and fairness:

1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally among all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are underachieving a “fair shake.”

2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help those who are “too busy for overtime” to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.

3. All top management will now be referred to as “the government.” We will not participate in this “pooling” experience because the law doesn’t apply to us.

4. The “government” will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging its workers to continue to work hard “for the good of all.”

5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it’s “good to spread the wealth.” Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more “patriotic.”

6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don’t feel bad though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he’ll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can’t pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our Democratic congress, you might even get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn’t all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?) !!!

[The haircut thing caught my eye.]

Thanks to Gerry.

  2. Jim,

I found your site via John Cox Art. Here is a quote from Dr. Leonard Peikoff’s speech, Health Care is Not a Right:

“Yet the meaning of socialism (this is the right name for Clinton’s medical plan) is clearly evident in any field at all — you don’t need to think of health care as a special case; it is just as apparent if the government were to proclaim a universal right to food, or to a vacation, or to a haircut. I mean: a right in the new sense: not that you are free to earn these things by your own effort and trade, but that you have a moral claim to be given these things free of charge, with no action on your part, simply as handouts from a benevolent government.” (Capitalism Magazine, December 27, 2006.)

  3. Martin,

Thanks. I am of the view that a “right” is not something we are granted by the government, but rather something we have and which the government cannot take away without an exceedingly good reason (e.g. in the criminal context having to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt).

P.S. John Cox is definitely one very cool guy.

  4. THAT’S what Obama reminds me of… it took a little while for it to percolate to the top (thanks, Martin!), but Obama sounds an awful lot like the heavies in Ayn Rands books “Atlas Shrugged” and “The Fountainhead”.

  5. 7. All private medical insurance will go away. Now that President Obama makes all companies big and small pay for Socialized Healthcare, so EVERYONE can have “FREE” healthcare, you will all participate in the ‘FREE’ program. The company will no longer provide medical benefits for you… when you can get them for ‘FREE’.

  6. Ahhhhhhh, can you smell it? It is the smell of all the unwashed, filthy masses yearning to get freebies. I live in California can someone help me get outta here? I’d need a job and a house (subsidized zero mortgage of course)

  9. Socialism. We have forgotten what the word means else we would not use it so frivolously. It’s the ownership or control of the means of production. Nobody is proposing this since the Farm Bill was first brought into existence by agrobusiness Republicans (except maybe for the current Republican introduction of government control over the access to Capital in our latest financial mess.)
All too often we tag ‘socialists’ as those who seek social justice for the victims of a burdensome system.
Those who see ‘individualism’ as capitalism and ‘reform’ as socialism should read a bit more in my opinion. Yet in today’s society, we corrupt words to mean what we want them to mean TODAY. (Tomorrow ‘we’ may wish to use the same word to mean something else.)
Our issue in the USA today is the same one we have always faced: theft of the National Treasury. It is taken by those who wish to line their own pockets and by those who wish to line someone else’s pockets. And they do this for Power, the ability to establish the force of Law for obeisance to their God Mammon or to their God Humanism.
Thanks for listening to an old man rant.

  10. Dale’s definition of Socialism is actually the definition of Marxist Communism. Socialism, at least according to Marx, is but the pathway to Communism.
Tortured references to a Farm Bill will not detract from the overwhelming Socialistic flavor of Obama’s world view, which he shares with his former Marxist friends ( “former” because Obama now disavows the multiple decades-long relationships he has had with numerous marxists).

As far as “theft of the national treasury” goes…is that your definition of Social Security? As you recall, that was a trust fund that was set up by a Democrat (FDR) with compulsory payroll deductions….and then pillaged for years by Democrats…and will be bankrupt in about another 10 years….unless, of course, we INCREASE the funding, which will in turn increase the pillaging….etc, .etc.

For God’s sake don’t lets this little Hitler get in the White House. Do you really think that it cant get any worse???

The current move in the dhimmi congress to nationalize 401Ks will create an unending source of free money for the dhimmis to loot
