Deadly Serious Karaoke Warning.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 4:18 pm

A word of advice to you karaoke peeps, particularly if you are planning to do your thing in Asia.

DO NOT HOG THE MICROPHONE!

In addition, you would also be well advised to avoid singing “My Way” or anything by John Denver.

You’re welcome.

  1. Justifiable homicide.

I’m amazed that some other culture loves “My Way” more than the Mexicans but has the good public sense to ban the damn song. In Mexico they’ll shoot you if you DON’T sing “A Mi Manera.”

  2. In Asia remember that ‘Rolling on the River’ is sung as ‘Lolling on the Liver’. Never forget that from my 3 year, 60’s, tour in Tokyo.

  3. Never let me have the mic….not sure if you would want to kill yourself or me. No one on this planet is ever drunk enough to hear me sing.

  4. See and therein lies the difference between real, live music and farookin’ karaoke.
Live music, with live musicians playing has a person known as “the sound guy” and he sits at a location known as “the board” and if you run too long (hogging the microphone) or your talents are not up to par (butchering Sinatra’s “My Way”) he employs a technique known as “Hitting The Suck Button” which cuts sound and thus ends your performance.
Beats the hell out of just stabbing the guy on the stage…doesn’t it 🙂
