Light Bulb Lunacy.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 9:40 pm

Look, I apologize for going on about the law that bans incandescent light bulbs in stages and completely by 2014 (see, e.g. here, here and here), but, to me, it may be one of the greatest examples of how utterly out of control the federal government is and how utterly crazy this country has become.

The Gentleman from Texas lays it out, with a healthy dose of sarcasm.

Thanks to Darlene for the link.

  1. I’ve given up on being cynical. We’re getting exactly as much of the kind of government that the majority of the American people want. Unfortunately, they’re dragging the rest of us along, and making us suffer through the ride. When the gravy train stops (derails), our “I told you so!” won’t count for much.

  2. Why does the government have to ban a certain light bulb? It would make more sense to allow both to compete with each other and let the marketplace decide the issue. Or does this make too much sense?

  3. I used to work in the lighting industry, as a supervisor in unionized incandescent plant. There were 8-10 separate plants in the local area (NE Ohio), making components and doing final assembly, with thousands of employees.
The area was/is heavily Democrat, and regularly sent Dems like Jim Traficant to Congress as their representatives. Those same Dems voted to ban the manufacture and sale of the products that effectively sent them to Congress.
    What a great country, eh?
