Memorial Day.

A special day for those of us who were fortunate enough to come home to remember those who didn’t.

    My utmost respect for you and my utter gratitude to you for fighting for my freedom. I admire you and thank God for you. I do not take your service to our great nation for granted (nor all the other millions of men and women who fought for our freedom). I salute and honor you today.

    Thank you, but at the height of the Vietnam War I was the recipient of a lucky roll of the cosmic dice. I went where the Army sent me, which was Germany, where I never heard a shot fired in anger. Others were not so lucky.
