Fear of Heights?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 3:19 pm

Although I have a morbid fear of alligators, I am not particularly afraid of heights. Having said that, I wouldn’t want this guy’s gig.

  2. I had to stop watching it. I am as terrified of heights as you are of alligators. heights and snakes are my downfall.

Nah, there’s no way I could go up that high. I don’t think I could even take an elevator and step out at that height.

And “free climbing!??!!” Is he out of his mind!? Nice big gust of wind and I think he might be “free flying…”

    Terra-firma, that’s for me.

  5. Back in the early 90’s, I climbed out onto the ledge of the dome of the Empire State Building to inspect the work of the guys who who putting up a new TV broadcast antenna for the station I was working for at the time. It was pretty surreal! For reference, the ledge was where King Kong was standing, next to the port holes, in the 1933 movie. I shot some videos up there and some 35mm pictures. When I returned to the studios, I showed the video to some of the staff. They ALL thought I was crazy! 🙂 It was a pretty cool experience, however. Nothing between us and the ground, 1400 feet below.

  6. Mike R…..

Free flying! On I 90 south of Erie there is a bridge across a gorge with about 325 feet of air under the bridge. About 10/15 years ago the bridge was being cleaned & painted. Yes Daniel….. that bridge!
The workers were given & supposed to be using safety belts 7 attach themselves to the bridge framework when working over the railing.
One dipstick was apparently standing on the narrow ledge outside of the railing hanging on with one hand & painting with the other. Whether he slipped or waved to somebod6y passing by is subject to debate but sans having his safety belt hooked up he ended up falling to the creek some 325 below…since it was late summer & very dry there was only about 4 inch`s of water flowing over the rock ledges below.
You can try to plan for the actions of stupid people, you just cannot make them think…..As for waving to a passerby….if you are stupid enough not to use the provided safety gear, you probably are dumb enough to wave.
