Bagpipes, Lots of Bagpipes.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 6:38 pm

Take a look and listen to what is probably the largest group of pipe and drum bands playing together. Whenever I hear the pipes, it reminds me fondly of my hometown. We had two local pipe bands, something one wouldn’t necessarily expect to see in a New Jersey town.

Behold the Edinburgh Bagpipers Military Tattoo.

Thanks to my buddy Brian, the Air Force Vet.

  1. You don’t have to be a Scotsman to enjoy the pipes .I was hoping to hear Amazing Grace . I still don’t think I could wear a kilt .I know Michelle Obama couldn’t fit that rear end and those huge thighs into one .

  2. Tank you so mush for this. As a product of the joining of the Carrs and the Dunns, I have a real appreciation of the pipes and the pipers.

  3. Jim,
My Jersey High School had a pipe band (Governor Livingston Regional HS – The Highlanders. They maarched in the St Pat’s parade one year. Check around and see if any of the Anglican churches in your area participate in the ‘Kirkin of the Tartan’. You haven’t lived until you’ve been INSIDE a cathedral with a pipe band or two. The stones dance, they do! And they cry when the lone piper leaves through the halwways playning the fading strains of Amazing Grace.

  4. I used to get my pipe supplies at the shop above the Argyle house there in Kearney, Jim. I still have my pipes (need a new sheepskin for them though) and every now and then I get out the chanter and play a tune to annoy Claude.
