I’ve Joined the World of Screen Rubbers.
Alas, I finally caved in and bought an iPhone. I will now join the legion of zombie screen rubbers. Of course, I have to figure out how to use the farookin’ thing, which is anything but a given. So far, I have managed to successfully download a weather app, which will come in handy when I’m in the house, but not near the computer or a window and I need to know if it’s raining.
I figure that’s a good start.

Yeah! Thought it would be a good idea myself to be a sceen rubber but even with all my extension cords& extra phone cord line I cant get much more then about 75 feet from the house tops.

Hi, Jimbo…don’t get a crick in your neck from looking down all the time. And, please don’t get on the elevator and whip out your phone to use it as an excuse for not engaging in conversation with other people (sick of that crap!).

The Juju Woman and I have had iPhones since there were iPhones. Upgraded ’em several times. The app we use most is a voice memo recorder. Check it out, it is handy. My advice, get a rubber case for it, because if you drop it, it will break. I happen to be one of the few who likes Apple…just bought a new maxed out MacBook Pro…runs like a scalded dog. My last iMac desktop ran 7/24 for 9 years without an involuntary reboot. A little pricy, though. For personal use, I will never run Windows again, but I made that decision years ago. *nix OS’s and SQL databases is what I do to put bread on the table. If I could add something to what Yabu said: I am an Android user (as you know), but several friends who have iPhones use the Otter Box as their protective casing and, I’m told that you can throw an iPhone encased in an Otter Box against the wall and it will be fine.

Jimbo, whatever you do, don’t make it difficult because it’s the easiest device to use in the world. My hubby had a terrible time getting past his techno fear but now has no idea how he ever did without his iPhone. Go to YouTube and search for iPhone tutorials and it’ll show you more than you will ever need. And seldom do I ever pay for an app because so many are free! And the otterbox thing is a good idea. A screen protector for sure. And the folks at the Apple Store will even put it on for you. And if worse comes to worse, you can make an appointment at the Apple Store and they will show you how to use it. Good Luck!!!!

WooHoo! Go Jimbo! If it’s an iphone 4s you have Siri and can ask her questions. LOL.
If you want some really excellent tutorials – check out Don McAllister’s Screencastsonline.com for iOS which covers iphone and ipad. Not only is he a truly nice guy (I met him when I was on vacation this summer), but he does outstanding step-by-steps tutorials quite beautifully. Very easy to follow. Try a 3 month subscription and see if you like it. Since the iphone is an investment, it’s good to know how it works so you can use it 😉
My two favorite apps for my phone are Camera+ by taptaptap which is like the regular camera with a little extra. And Readability which makes it easy for me to read articles on websites because I have the font set so I can read it even on my phone screen. I have to thank Don doing a screencast about Readability for the iphone and how to use it with Safari. I would never have figured it out on my own. LOL.
