Walk Don’t Run, Sir.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 10:52 pm

Remember the Ventures and their hit “Walk Don’t Run?” I know I do, because that was one of the first drum licks I learned. I’ll bet you didn’t know that George Babbitt, the “kid” who played drums on that record, became a Four Star General in the U.S. Air Force. I didn’t know it either. Check out the video in which the General shows up to play.

Great stuff, right there.

Via Stumptown Blogger and a tip from my buddy Brian, the Air Force Vet.

  3. Great piece .Those were the days .Nice to see a clean cut musician without tattoos and hair down to his shoulders who showers ,shampoos , and shaves . Then came the 60s and it went into the toilet in many respects . And the smell still lingers . I’m not sure, but I think the name is Russell Brand, divorced from Katie Perry,a real dirt bag, he is the poster boy ,a freakazoid .

  4. Good stuff indeed. I grew up taping my foot to the Ventures. I had no idea.

  5. Nothing like good vibes from the past! “The Ventures”….. I still have their album set somewhere “How to play the guitar with the Ventures”…..my fingers just would not do those things , I tried but admittedly not often enough. Always thought I would get around to it…just never did.
