It’s Coming!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 8:56 pm

It will be faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive.

It took me long enough, but I finally ordered a new computer. As we speak, the custom doodads are being placed under its hood. It is a kickass 17” notebook that contains the memory of a 100 herds of elephants and will be as fast as an F22 Raptor. It’s bad to the bone. The mondo unit will be WiFi’d so that I can create these pearls of wisdom from anywhere in the House by the Parkway and its immediate surroundings.

When I don’t feel like blogging from the Deck or from Mr. Recliner, I will be able to place it into its docking station and use a regular keyboard and mouse and check shit out on a new 19” flat screen. Screw something up? No problem. I’ll have an external drive that backs everything up. Hell, it’s even got a webcam in it, which will come in handy if I ever feel like mooning the ‘sphere.

Fortunately, a colleague and friend of mine, who is a serious computer guy, has graciously volunteered to come to the House by the Parkway and wire it all up and make sure it’s battle ready.

Of course, once he leaves, I’ll have to figure out how to make all of it work. I may have a question or two.

Can a digital camera be far behind?

Stay tuned.

  1. Now you can crash your blog faster than ever before..

  2. Who are you and what have you done with him? Make sure he shows you where the on/off button is!

  3. I think that the real Jimbo was eaten by an alligator down in Florida. What we have here is Jimbo 2.0 – Techno-wizard. *grin*

  4. Of course, if the rest of us were really mean, we’d start throwing tech-speak at him. Stuff like how he needs to make sure he had a secondary DNS server, and that the new machine is configured for IP6. Maybe remind him that he can upgrade the new laptop with more memory, but that it has to be DDR2, and not SDRAM. Or asking him tech questions, like whether the hard drive in it is SATA or not, or if the processor is a dual core, or what wifi system it has: 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n 🙂

Good thing we’re not like that, though…

  5. 2 DVD players… Then a new computer… So what in the world is next? A spaceship???
Apparently Jimbo (if it is the real Jimbo) has decided that with the right techie at his side, he can handle anything! So proud of him!

  7. Well, seeing as you’ve had your current Mr. Computer dating back to when I was barely legal to drink, I hafta say that this is very impressive news. Invitations have already been sent out to the “Welcome Jimbo to the 21st Century Party.”

  8. I can’t wait to hear stories of you using the mouse touch pad on your laptop. You will overshoot your icon that you are trying to click. Seriously, though. Play Solitaire until you get the feel of it. It’s the best way to get used to a touch pad.

You’ll soon be using your external drive as an MP3 jukebox. It’s great. Congratulations!

  9. Alright pod people, what have you done with the real Jimbo and his farookin great hair???

  10. If he buys a “MAC” we will know he has been kidnapped and replaced and will soon be running for DA as a democrat. I think a check of V-mans backyard might be in order.

  11. Just remember, no picture ever leaves the internet.
Eventually, it finds its way to my page.

  12. Please tell me there’s still a digital clock somewhere in your house blinking “12:00” or I’m really going to start worrying.

  13. You going thru a mid-life crisis or what? With a new DVD player (2 even) and new computerr, it sure seems like it.

If you get a digital camera, we’ll know it’t the crisis for sure!

  14. Not to worry, as not all that much has changed. The digital clock on the microwave reads “:”.

  15. Jerry commented about becoming accustomed to a “touch pad”. That might be a painful experience. Some of you may remember my first experience with one of those things.

  16. As fast as an F-22 Raptor? Just make sure you don’t cross the international dateline with that sucker. 😉
