Envy?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 7:57 pm

Yeah, it’s …. like … really cool having a blog.

I think that’s true.

But, have you ever found yourself envying those who go home after work without a thought in the world such as, ”What the hell can I write about tonight?”

Blogging can be like a constant scab needing to be picked.

That is all.

  1. I often go home wondering how many people are obsessing over grading, students, and plans. Blogging is my escape from it all. Ha!

  2. Ditto what RT said. It’s relaxing. When it’s not…well it’s time to Slack.

True confession: I like having something to obsess over. So far, my blog’s been a harmless obsession. Of course, I haven’t been to Helen, yet.

  3. I went ahead and pulled my scab off. Too bad, I’ve so many fat chicks to share with the world.

  4. ::sigh::

I had a really cool comment, but then it made me sound like a dooshbag fuddy-dud after I wrote it, so I deleted it.

…which, I think, is proof positive that I can absolutely relate to what you are going through.

    …must…re-Joovinate…

  5. Since I work at home and I am on the computer like 99% of the time… I think I need to stop now and just go watch television or something. LOL.

  6. If those blogless people are vegging out in front of hours of idiot mindless primetime tv programming, then no, I don’t envy ’em one bit. But I’d like to envy myself, actually, when I can get away from the computer and go outside for a few days with no electronic connection of any kind. That’s a beautiful thought for me! Although I know when I’m out there I’ll be thinking — Whoa, this’ll be cool to write about! But yeah, those who don’t blog everyday, if they’re living free & productive lives, I do envy ’em.

  8. Jimbo,
If it’s any consolation, we the blogless worry about you the bloggers when you stop picking unannounced. I’ve been known to send off health inquiries when someone goes off the aether for an extended time.

Also, if you’re having troubles thinking of something to write about, it’s been A LONG DAMN TIME since we heard about a certain drill instructor/law professor.

  9. Where is the rule that says a blogger has.to.post. every.day?? Don’t make it work. Or school. Are you getting paid or graded?

  10. I like picking scabs. They taste like jerky.

  11. I’ve been scaling back over the past five or six months, partially to re-align my efforts and take a good look at what I blog and why, but mostly just to take a break. I enjoy working on the house and gardens too much during the warm weather to force myself to write just for the sake of writing, when I really have nothing to say.
Winter is coming, peak blogging season for me. Plopped down in front of the fire with the laptop and a bottle of that which cheers and inebreates makes for a more relaxed time of it, rather than dashing off something “just because”. Like Jean says, there are no rules. If you have to force it, it ain’t workin’.
