Meet the Beatnix!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 10:24 pm

If you’re old enough to remember seeing the Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show, or if you’ve seen film of their performance, you’ll get a major kick out of this video. It’s not the Beatles, but the Beatnix, four Australian guys who have it down pat. The kicker is that they are not playing “She Loves You” or “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” Rather, with tongues planted firmly in their cheeks, they’re playing “Stairway to Heaven” as the Beatles would have done it back then.

I farookin’ love it.

  1. I farookin’ love it, too, even though it gives me that anti-dexterous numbness I typically feel when I try to simultaneously rotate my foot anti-clockwise, while patting my head, and rubbing my belly in a circular motion.

I think I’ll stick to A Shver a Tugehdikke Nacht by Di Beatlakh, instead.

  4. Wooooooooooo . . . those moppy little hairdos shakin’ together at the mike. Cracks me up.

I’d like to hear what this band would do to an Ozzy tune.

  9. Actually, The Kid first heard this version in 1996 on a novelty album he has entitled “Stairways to Heaven”

It’s really funny how the song can adapt so well to a Beatles-esque arrangement.

And of course, there is always: Dread Zeppelin…

  10. Stairway, again, from Zappa’s last tour, in ’88.
