Six.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 2:10 pm

Because this year Thanksgiving fell on November 27th, it overshadowed a truly important and unmentioned event.

OK, I lied about the “important” thing.

You see, as of yesterday, this blog turned six years old. Who’d a thunk it?

I have written a few entries shy of 2,500, far fewer than written by many bloggers, but far greater than any number I would have imagined six years ago. I’d go on and on about why I take the time to write the silly stuff I do, but there is nothing quite as boring as reading the drivel of a blogger on the subject of blogging.

Let me just say that the best thing that has come of this exercise are the people I have come to know, both in the cyber-world and in, as they say, the “meat world.” Many will be friends for life, for sure.

Beyond that, I can only offer my heartfelt thanks for taking a piece of your valuable time to stick your head in the door of the House by the Parkway. It continues to amaze and humble me.

Onward.

  1. Jimbo, you have become a part of my daily routine for the last year and a half. I get up in the morning, check Drudge, RCP, my Myspace account and this fine blog.
You provide me with laughs and a common sense outlook i find in few other places.
Plus because of your blog I have found others that I like. Jooette’s blog is rather entertaining as well.

May you have many more anniversary’s like this.

and remember in regards to Obama….I didn’t vote for him and I don’t have to be nice to him either.

I jest, of course. You are a daily read – most days, anyway – and your guest-posts at my site have had me and the Missus laughing unto the point of self-pissage.

May you continue to enjoy “this thing of ours.” And may your hair stay Great and Farookin’.

  23. The “next” installment of Master Sergeant John “Jack” Steele has been sitting on my hard drive, half finished and gathering dust for a very long time. Maybe it’s time to put it on my “to do” list.

  24. A little late to the party, but a hardy congrats for keeping me entertained day after day, Jim! The House By The Parkway is one of my first stops in the morning as I’m sipping my coffee….many times having to wipe THAT coffee off my monitor due to your wonderful sense of humor. I hope one day to actually meet you and shake the hand of a fellow Joisey guy who never fails to make me smile. 🙂

  29. This congratulation was composed while seated under a large pine tree in the wilds of the Allegheny National Forest surrounded by 27″ deep Snow watching [4] doe deer munching on twigs during the morning of December 1, 2008.
I had to have something to do….No Bucks around “male deer” & I left the thermos & candy bars in the truck.

    Onward & upward….Dudley1
