A Wee Dram or Two.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jim @ 5:31 am

Eric, the Straight White Guy, tells a great story about his First Robert Burns Night in Scotland. A bit of single malt, a fine dinner, and the next thing you know, you’re drawing your sword and leading a charge to take the Bridge at Rose Hill.

Good scotch whiskey can bring out the Robert William (duh) Wallace in a guy, especially a Marine.

  1. thanks, James…the NCO Sword was a real eyecatcher…one guy at our table remarked that Marines never got invited…usually only the Navy Brass…he said..”We get our first Marine visitor…and, he’s NOT an officer…and he shows up ARMED!…we should invite MORE Marines! Burns would be proud!”

  2. Not to nitpick (Ok, I’m nitpicking), but it’s William Wallace – not Robert.

    =)

  3. Jen —

Thank you. It’s a nit worth picking. I blame my mistake on the hour, on a wee dram, and having a friend by the name of “Robert” Wallace, about whom I must have been thinking at the time.

  4. I go with bourbon, which tends to bring out the George Wallace.

  5. Or, you could go with Prozac, which tends to bring out the Mike Wallace.
